If you’ve ever sat down to do some work and then glanced up at the clock and wondered where the last few hours went, you’ll probably have wondered who, or what, stole your time!

On average, office workers in the UK are distracted every 11 minutes

Some of the prime suspects in cases like this include:

  • Emails
  • Phone notifications
  • Meetings
  • Colleagues talking 
  • Firefighting

At your home, you protect your property with things like locked doors, fences, and lighting.

In the same way, if you’re going to defeat the thieves of your time, you need to make life much harder for them. Here are some suggestions:

  • Turn off notifications

  • Check your emails when you want to, instead of when your computer wants you to

  • Select the appropriate type of meeting, with only the right people and only for as long as it needs to be

  • When you can, work off-site and offline
